Revisiting Linda J's Story
Year Diagnosed: 2008
Type of Cancer: Ovarian
In January of 2008 I had a normal gyn exam. By March I discovered a swollen lymph node in my groin and on May 1st I was in surgery for Ovarian Cancer—Stage IIIC. Recovery from the surgery was tough and from chemo even tougher, but in 6 months I was back to work and feeling pretty good. I have a very large family who rallied around me for support, as well as old friends and friends from work who looked after me constantly. Living with my loving husband, daughter and new baby grand-daughter helped so much—because they were there for me 24/7 and they made me laugh! Now, my doctors follow me every three months. I do appreciate each day more now and I've slowed down my life a bit by choice. I recently learned that my cancer has returned and I am awaiting decisions regarding the next round of treatments. Hoping to beat the disease this time. Meanwhile, I'm lovin' every day -no hour - of my life!
