Helen S's Story

Year Diagnosed: 1987
Type of Cancer: ovarian

I was diagnosed stage IIIc ovarian cancer in May 1987 when I was 41 years old. I was optimally debulked and recieved 6 months of chemo. I then had second-look surgery. Microscopic disease was found and I received 6 months of high dose IP (intraperitoneal) chemotherapy. I then received 6 months of oral chemo to try and prevent a recurrence. I did have a recurrence in March 1993. I received 12 months of IV chemo ending in March 1994. I have needed no chemo since then.

My mission is to give hope. I needed hope when I was in treatment. Feel free to get in touch with me. If I could do it, you can too.
