Phyllis K's Story

Year Diagnosed: 2003
Type of Cancer: fallopian tube

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Fallopian Tube CA and was asymptomatic when I underwent a laparoscopy which turned into a complete Hysterectomy and Oophorectomy followed by 6 monthly chemo treatments with Taxol and Carboplatin. The CA recurred once, 6 months after my first treatments ended, and now I have been free since 2004--I just passed the 5 year date, which the doctors gave me 20% of reaching. And at a recent Ovarian CA seminar in Chicago, I met with hundreds of other survivors, some much longer than I am and some currently in treatment--there IS hope out there!!
