The Foundation for Women’s Cancer (formerly the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation) was founded by the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO) in 1991. The Foundation’s mission, in concert with SGO, is to support research, education and public awareness of gynecologic cancer prevention, early detection and optimal treatment. The Foundation advances this mission by increasing public and private funds that aid in the development and implementation of programs to meet these goals.

The Foundation for Women's Cancer is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2011-2012 Research Grants and Prizes. These awards were presented in March at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology 43rd Annual Meeting on Women's Cancer in Austin.

Head Shaving Fundraiser Inspires Many at Lehigh University
The Foundation for Women's Cancer recently received a donation from Klye Lum, a student at Lehigh University who sponsored a head-shaving fundraiser to honor his mother, a multiple-time ovarian cancer survivor. We were so touched by his creativity and compassion that we wanted to share some of Kyle's letter, in which he explains this project, with all of our readers.

New $50,000 Annual Prize for Outstanding Gynecologic Cancer Researcher Announced
June 11, 2010—The Claudia Cohen Research Foundation in association with the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation announces a new annual $50,000 Prize for Outstanding Gynecologic Cancer Researcher.
This $50,000 annual prize will be awarded to an individual in recognition of his or her outstanding contributions to research improving the care of women with gynecologic cancer. The awardees will have made important contributions that improve gynecologic cancer patient care, including early detection. The award will be made to the individual rather than his/her institution.
