November 8 and the GCF Race to End Women's Cancer Are Almost Here!

Register today to be part of the inaugural GCF Race to End Women's Cancer and the Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Movement.  Check out the updated race course route that starts near the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue and join the countdown to race day!  Information about race packet pick-up is now available.

Whether you volunteer, cheer or can't be there on race day, please consider donating in support of one of the almost 1,500 registered runners or walkers.  Each person participating in the GCF Race to End Women's Cancer would greatly appreciate your support.
 
Teddy BearLooking for a unique way to remember the GCF Race?  Check out the limited edition GCF Marathon Vermont Teddy Bear!  You can even have it personalized after the race with your finish time. Other weekend activities include SGO's Annual State of the Art Conference Personalized Gynecologic Cancer Care: Moving from the Disease to the Patient on Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.  For more information visit SGO's Web site.
 
On Saturday, November 7, 2009, participate in one of three courses for survivors of cervical, endometrial or ovarian cancers, also at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Survivor course registration is required and is available online or by calling 312-578-1439.

GCF Joins with Kaleidoscope in Thanksgiving Day National Broadcast
The Gynecologic Cancer Foundation has teamed up with nine other advocacy partners in an unprecedented collaboration with "Kaleidoscope on Ice." The holiday entertainment variety special will feature the historic return to the ice of the legendary Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill who will skate to the music of fellow cancer survivor Olivia Newton-John and one of America's foremost music producers David Foster.
 
This event and celebration that unites survivorship, sport and song debuts on Thanksgiving Day and will also include performances by Olympic champion Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic Silver Medalist Nancy Kerrigan and Olympic figure skating hopefuls Johnny Weir and Rachael Flatt. "Kaleidoscope on Ice" is a program designed to recognize women and the key role they play in the battle against cancer-as patients, caregivers and advocates. Its mission is to address issues surrounding women and cancer by helping educate women to be proactive about their health and by honoring all cancer survivors, including the more than 713,000 women who are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States..
 
Mark your calendars for Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26) 2009. Tune into FOX from 4:00-5:30 p.m. (EST)-immediately following the FOX Thanksgiving Day football telecast-to watch "Kaleidoscope on Ice."
