Summary:

The SGO is a professional organization of physicians who are specialists trained in the comprehensive management of women with cancers of the female reproductive tract. Gynecologic Oncologists are certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in obstetrics and gynecology and receive certification of special competence in gynecologic oncology, following an additional three to four years of training. Affiliate members of the SGO are specialists in radiation therapy, medical oncology or pathology who have particular interests and skills in gynecologic cancer care. The overall purpose of the SGO is to improve the care of women with gynecologic cancers and to raise the standards of practice in the treatment and prevention of gynecologic malignancies.
