Summary:

Established in 1964, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) is the organization of health care professionals committed to improving health through the study, prevention, diagnosis, and management of lower genital tract disorders.

The Society seeks to educate health care professionals and others in colposcopy and related strategies focused on the lower genital tract. We intend to provide physicians and other licensed care givers with the knowledge and skills necessary to:

  • Perform basic and advanced colposcopic examinations (including an understanding of normal and abnormal cervical anatomy, cytology, histology, and colposcopic findings).
  • Recognize and evaluate premalignant and malignant cervical disease.
  • Recognize the role of co-factors in the development of neoplastic disorders of the cervix, vagina and vulva
  • Recognize, evaluate, and treat related vulvar and vaginal diseases.
  • Become familiar with new diagnostic modalities for lower genital tract diseases
  • Provide women and their partners with appropriate patient education materials.
