GCF This Month

November 1999

Watch your mail next week for the arrival of our final 1999 GCF Bulletin. Below is a sneak preview with highlights of GCF's latest progress:

GCAM Results Are Pouring In

In September alone,

  • GCFs Public Service announcement featuring Cher aired over 2,000 times
  • 10,000 copies of the For Gail poster were displayed throughout the United States

    Media efforts resulted in;
    • Seven major magazine placements
    • 37 newspaper articles
    • 12 online stories
    • 45 television placements, with interviews on Good Morning America and Today Show
    • 22 gynecologic oncology articles appeared in USAToday.com
    • Calls to GCF's 1/800 Information hotline increased by 77 percent
    • Women's Cancer Network site's visits increased by 200 percent
The most impressive activities were the results from our grass roots efforts spearheaded by SGO/GCF members. If you haven't already sent in your tracking form, please do so, as the "honor roll" of the month's activities will be displayed at the SGO Annual Meeting. Below is the form for you to fill out and return it to GCF Headquarters http://www.wcn.org/publicity/activityform.rtf

GCF/Office on Women's Health/Center for Disease Control/National Cancer Institute and Advocacy Groups Unite

GCF will be spearheading the development of a gynecologic oncology multi-media presentation kit which will be geared toward informing primary care physicians and other health providers about the facts on gynecologic cancer. This kit will be made available at no cost to all SGO/GCF members and sent to all medical schools and other health organizations by May 2000, just in time for members to use during GCAM 2000. GCF is pleased to be working with the above partners on this important project.

GCF/NCI Fellowship Program Successfully Fills Positions

Congratulations to the new GCF/NCI Fellows; Dr. Amir A Jazaeri who will be completing his clinical work at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Dr. Ginger J. Gardner who will be doing her clinical work at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

"100 X 100" Drive Needs You to Help Achieve 100%

GCF's goal is to get donations of at least $100 from 100% of the SGO/GCF Membership. Our numbers are climbing but we still need your help. If you haven't already done so, please fill out the pledge card below and show that you support quality cancer care for women. http://www.wcn.org/fight/pledge.html
