GCF/Florence and Marshall Schwid Ovarian Cancer Research Grant
$50,000/ (1) Year Award

• 

Principal investigators who apply for this grant must be a full, candidate or associate member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO).

• 

No limiting specifications.

• 

Related to ovarian cancer.

• 

Supports the best project application.

• 

Leaves judgment related to the quality and importance of the work up to the GCF peer review process.

• 

In the evaluation process GCF considers the originality, significance, appropriateness and probability of the proposed research project. The GCF is committed to assisting new investigators who have not previously had independent funding to achieve peer-reviewed awards.

• 

GCF will announce the grant and above choose a recipient through a peer-review process.

• 

GCF GRANTS DO NOT PAY FOR INDIRECT COSTS.

• 

(Indirect costs include but are not limited to administrative cost of the university, usual criteria established for grant overhead or other costs such as laboratory space.) Grant monies must be devoted to the active research project.

• 

TRAVEL TO PRESENT DATA RESULTING FROM THIS SUPPORT IS PERMISSIBLE.

•  Related to early detection focused primarily on treatment modality for women dealing with ovarian cancer and reoccurences.
•  Supports the best project application.
•  Leaves judgment related to the quality and importance of the work up to the GCF peer review process.
•  In the evaluation process GCF considers the originality, significance, appropriateness and probability of the proposed research project. The GCF is committed to assisting new investigators who have not previously had independent funding to achieve peer-reviewed awards

GCF/Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Career Development Award
$50,000/ Per Year for 2 Years Award

•  Principal investigators who apply for this grant must be Full, Candidate or Associate Members of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO).
•  This two-year award is intended for junior faculty at the Assistant Professor level, who are conducting cancer research at an academic institution.
•  This award promotes important transitional support for direct research expenses as researchers move from the ranks of young investigator to faculty senior status.
•  Quality research in studies relating to issues affecting women with breast cancer or at risk for breast cancer. These projects could include but are not limited to genetics, epidemiological studies, ovarian cancer screening, early detection, and prevention of clinical trials with SERMS, molecular mechanisms of action of SERMS, etc.
•  The award is not intended to replace or supplement the salary of the awardee.
•  GCF will announce the grant and choose a recipient through a peer-review process.
•
