GCF: New Leader of National HPV & Cervical Cancer Campaign

GCF is excited to be the lead partner for the 2003 National HPV & Cervical Cancer Campaign. Formerly led by the American Medical Women's Association, the goal of the campaign is to reduce the burden of disease, unnecessary procedures and preventable deaths caused each year by cervical cancer through increased education, outreach and communication between women and their health care providers. GCF will also partner with a core group of women's health, and cancer organizations, to develop and disseminate information about HPV, cervical cancer, and available detection methods to women throughout the United States. GCF's communication's committee is in the process of determining strategy for this campaign and further details will be included in the next issue of this Bulletin.

GCF is proud to officially launch this campaign by sponsoring an outreach course to African American Women in conjunction with the SGO Annual Meeting in New Orleans. See additional details on this course in the Annual Meeting section of this Bulletin and look for more news in upcoming Bulletins as GCF's communication's committee continues to further develop plans for this campaign. GCF is grateful to Digene Corporation who provided an unrestricted educational grant to support this effort.
