Women's Cancer Network Better Than Ever!

Over the past year a vast amount of behind-the-scenes time and energy has been dedicated to the launching of a newly enhanced version of the Women's Cancer Network Web site www.wcn.org. Thanks to a very generous grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology, GCF and Cancersource.com were able to take this site to an entirely new level with comprehensive information about women's cancer and several new features that will further serve the needs of women looking for support and information about women's cancers.

While the award-winning site will continue to have all the current features, the new site will have many new and improved resources for visitors. A 'Learn About' section will have disease overviews, treatments, symptom management, research advances, what to ask your doctor and care issues for cancers that affect women. Risk assessment tools, daily news updates and find-a-doctor section are other interactive ways the site will engage visitors. Information about clinical trials and links to important resources and organizations will make the user experience more fulfilling.

A key focus is renovating the site's 'Survivors Section' that will feature articles about personal issues such as fertility, sexuality and quality of life in order to create an online community for women with cancer. One of the resources in this section will be titled the "Wall of Hope." Its goal is to act as a unique resource for survivors, enabling them to reach out to others and seek support. It is a place where women can go to either post a few encouraging lines about their experience or read about other women's experiences. Over 100 stories have already been posted on the Wall of Hope. The Wall of Hope submission form can be found by going to www.cancersource.com/wallofhope.

The newly enhanced site will be unveiled at the SGO Annual Meeting and available for public viewing and access in February.
