Summer 2001

Spread the Word!

As September rolls around the corner, so does Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month (GCAM). Your support and dedication in the past two years has helped urge women to take action and safeguard their gynecologic health by incorporating early detection and prevention techniques into their regular health routine. GCF challenges each of you once again to reach out to your community and publicize GCAM. To propel your efforts, GCF has redesigned the free publicity kit, which provides a variety of ways to raise awareness and support GCAM. The new, contemporary look makes the publicity kit more user friendly and comprehensible. As in the past years, the kit includes event ideas, sample media materials, and guidance for generating publicity in your community. For the first time ever, we also added a template letter for you to urge your state’s Governor to declare September "Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month." States that have already officially received proclamation (at the time of print) include:

  • Alabama
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Minnesota

Look for the publicity kit in the mail, online or call GCF Headquarters to request one.

To gain national media attention, GCF has partnered with Ketchum Chicago to coordinate the public relations activities for GCAM. Efforts include developing press materials, alerting print and broadcast media about GCAM, and securing interviews for gynecologic oncologists with reporters.

Let’s make GCAM 2001 the best year yet!

Special thanks to:
