GCF and Women in Government Organization Join Forces in Encouraging Governors to Proclaim September GCAM
In an effort to encourage state governors to declare September as Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, GCF partnered with the Women in Government Organization (WIG), a bi-partisan educational association for elected women in state government, to contact governors about potential proclamations by letter and telephone. "It is important that state policymakers promote in cancer awareness, to educate their constituents and develop prevention strategies. Women In Government's partnership with the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation facilitates this goal, and we are delighted to be in the forefront of a cause so vital to women's health," said, Women in Government Executive Director, Joy Newton.
SGO/GCF members also supported this effort, and as of press time, an impressive 27
governors had proclaimed September as GCAM in their states.
GCF is grateful to the Women in Government Organization for their wonderful efforts in support of GCAM.
