GCF Takes Active Role During September's March on Washington
Thousands of cancer survivors, their families, friends, and caregivers will gather in Washington, DC on Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26, for THE MARCH, "Coming Together to Conquer Cancer." Given that more than half a million Americans die of cancer each year, and that the federal government spends just one penny of every $10 paid in taxes on cancer research, attendees of THE MARCH hope to increase the amount of federal funding to fight the disease. GCF will play an important role at THE MARCH, handing out brochures and answering questions about gynecologic cancer and the Foundation.
Following the event, GCF will be hosting a second Allied Support Group meeting between physicians and ovarian cancer support groups. This meeting is a follow-up to the program we initiated at the SGO Annual Meeting this past February in Orlando. The meeting will be held Sunday, September 27th from 8:00 am - 12:00 noon at SGO's Washington office, 1200 19th Street, NW, Second Floor. We hope you can attend this important meeting. All attendees will receive a complementary T-shirt. The shirts are made possible through an anonymous donation designated for this purpose to GCF.
Please call Karen Carlson if you can attend this meeting. If you would like further information about THE MARCH, call 1-877-THE-MARCH, e-mail them at info@themarch.org, or log-on to their website www.themarch.org.
