1998 GCF Research Award: Congratulations to Judith Wolf, MD, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Dr. Wolf has been selected to receive the l998 $25,000 GCF Research Grant for her project, "Evaluation of the Effect and Mechanism of Action of Adenovirus-mediated Tumor Suppressor Gene Therapy of Ovarian Cancer."
GCF/NCI Research Training Fellowship: The GCF/NCI selection committee has received and is still accepting applications for the Research Training Fellowship. The program is designed to support gynecologic oncologists who wish to take part is a two-year intensive basic and translational research program at NCI. Please contact any gynecologic oncologist program director or Wesley Fowler, MD, GCF Chair, if you or someone you know is interested in applying for this Fellowship. Our Annual Donor Drive One thing we can all agree on is that GCF's initiatives have contributed to increasing awareness about gynecologic oncology care and research. Taking the lead in educating women about their cancer risks and treatment options has always been one of the Foundation's primary tasks. But the momentum in the fight against women's gynecologic cancers can be sustained only with the direct support of those intimately involved with the disease. GCF's Annual Donor Drive will be conducted again this fall. A pledge card will be sent to all SGO/GCF members in the hopes that the GCF will continue to be a top priority on their giving list. GCF members will also have the opportunity to pledge when paying their l999 SGO membership dues. Your continued support can inspire others outside the organization to embrace GCF's mission. We hope you will remember to put GCF on your list of year-end donations. In the meantime, look for our mailing this fall.
