WCN: for doctors, too

On behalf of my colleagues in Gynecologic Oncology, it is my privilege to applaud the GCF for its pioneering work in Internet communications. Only six months since its inception at the 1998 Meeting of the SGO, the Women's Cancer Network (WCN) is successfully directing one of our field's most crucial missions - the continuous bridging together of women who may be at risk for or afflicted by cancer, general health care providers and gynecologic oncologists.

The WCN website is not only a benefit to women, but is of tremendous value to the members of SGO/GCF. WCN offers a comprehensive menu of on-line tools that help me as a physician. News: reports of major gynecologic and oncology studies concerning women's health provided by lay and scientific literature updated daily by Reuters; Referrals: a national directory of gynecologic oncologists; Links: a list of related sites on the Internet; and Survivors: a built-in gynecologic oncology support group forum.

Due to innovations like the WCN, our field of gynecologic oncology will continue to evolve to meet the demands of tomorrow's female population. I urge members of the SGO/GCF to continue to utilize this site as the useful resource it is.
