Statistics About Uterine Sarcoma

Some people use statistics to try to figure out their chance of getting cancer or being cured of it. However, statistics only show what happens to large groups of people. Because no 2 people are alike, you cannot use statistics to predict what might happen to you.

These statistics are from the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts & Figure 2008.

  • Behind breast, lung, and colon cancer, uterine cancer is the 4th most common cancer in US women. There are an estimated 40,100 cases per year.
  • Uterine cancers account for 6% of all cancers diagnosed in US women. More than 95% of these cases are endometrial cancer. Uterine sarcomas are a rare type of uterine cancer representing only 5% of all uterine cancers.
