Statistics About Endometrial Cancer
Some people try to use statistics to figure out their chance of getting cancer. Or they use them to figure out their chance of being cured. But statistics only show what happens to large groups of people. No two women are alike. So you cannot use statistics to predict what might happen to you.
These statistics come from the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts & Figures 2008.
- Uterine cancer is the 4th most common cancer in US women. There are an estimated 40,100 cases per year. Breast, lung, and colon cancer are the three cancers that are more common.
- Uterine cancers account for 6% of all cancers diagnosed in US women. More than 95% of these cases are endometrial cancer.
- Most women with endometrial cancer have a favorable prognosis.
- Endometrial cancer is the 8th most common cause of cancer death in US women. An estimated 7470 women will die of uterine cancer in 2008.
