Vivian von Gruenigen, M.D.

Dr. Vivian von Gruenigen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, at University Hospitals of Cleveland. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Wright State University, completed a fellowship in gynecology oncology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and a residency and internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Akron City Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. von Gruenigen received the CREOG Annual National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education, University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University and NEOUCOM and was named Surgeon of the Year, Aultman Hospital She also received the American Association for Cancer Research Travel Award and Best Doctors Award (Top Doctors in America) annually since 2004 named by the Consumer’s Research Council of America.
Her research includes health related outcomes in ovarian and endometrial cancer patients. This research is supported by the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation.
Dr. von Gruenigen is a member of several professional societies including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (Fellow), and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. She serves on several national committees, including the Gynecologic Oncology Group’s Quality of Life Committee; She is a Gynecologic Cancer Foundation (GCF) board member as well as a member of GCF''s Survivor’s Course Committee. Membership on state and local committees include the American Cancer Society Ohio Partners for Cancer Control; the Ethics Committee, University Hospitals of Cleveland and the Ireland Cancer Center’s Patient and Family Centered Care Committee
She is a member of the editorial board for the Gynecologic Oncology and the Women’s Oncology Review. Dr. von Gruenigen has published articles in many peer-reviewed journals. She is an ongoing invited presenter at many national professional meetings.
